As a Field Contributor to Deer & Deer Hunting magazine, I play a big role in the production of the annual Deer Hunters' Almanac. I've been doing this since 2014. My job is to gather all the deer harvest statistics from every state and Canadian province where whitetail deer are hunted (44 states and 8 provinces), along with other state and provincial information.
It all goes into Chapter 7 of the Almanac under the heading "Whitetail Nation." In addition, I write an article to lead that chapter. In this issue, the article is titled "Hunting License Sales — A Pandemic Plus?" I explain the effect of the COVID pandemic on hunting license sales and deer harvests.
