Stories—Every Hunter Has Them

by Steve Sorensen | The Everyday Hunter®

If you tell a hunting story, be prepared to listen to a hunting story. Your listener might be motivated to tell a whopper, to top your story, or just to get into the game. Stories have always been a big part of hunting, ever since the first cave man drew pictures on a cave wall.

We still have a few good storytellers in our ranks, and Harvey "Bumper" Bauer is one of them. All the evidence you need is in his book The Old Man: Whispers Heard. In it, you'll see the evolution of a young boy growing upon his grandparents' farm.

I won't give away the secrets to what makes this book something special, but you can read about it in this week's column at "Stories—Every Hunter Has Them" in the Jamestown Gazette.
