It's an honor and a privilege to be the guest blogger this week for Richard Bernier's Big Whitetail blog. Bernier is one of the best deer trackers in America, formerly a field editor for Deer and Deer Hunting magazine, and has written several books on tracking big whitetails. He's a master whitetail hunter, and he does it the old fashioned way.

With all the efforts hunters (but not only hunters) make to be celebrities in their field, it's worth asking thinking about what it means to be a celebrity, and is that actually what anyone in the real world really wants to be? Or is it better to be a hero? And what is a hero? Bernier recognized what an important topic this is, and asked if I would allow him to publish a column I wrote a couple of months ago, "Who Is Your Hunting Hero?" Read, and think!
