Hunters are often asked why we hunt. Some of us don't think much about why, and can probably come up with only one or two reasons. Others could write a book on the topic.
It doesn't matter much what your answer is. The truth is that the question why we hunt is a modern one. Few people would have asked that question a hundred years ago, and it might be good to ask the questioner "Why do you ask?"
In this week's column in the Jamestown Gazette I tackle the question. Maybe my answers don't satisfy you, and maybe you can think of better answers. Or maybe you'll decide what I decided. There's really only one reason—I hunt because I'm a hunter. Read 15 Reasons Why I Hunt.
